Paul Balke beschrijft geschiedenis, cultuur, gastronomie, druivenrassen en wijntradities over de grenzen heen. Het is het eerste Engelstalige boek over deze zone als geheel. Volgens de auteur hoort de Noordelijke Adriatische kust bij de grote Europese wijnmacroregio’s, net als Bordeaux, Bourgogne, Piemonte of Toscane: één naam voor veel verschillende subgebieden die historisch en cultureel verbonden zijn.
Paul Balke covers history, culture, gastronomy, grape varieties and wine traditions across borders. It is the first English-language book on this zone as a whole. According to the author, the northern Adriatic coast belongs among the great European wine macro-regions, like Bordeaux, Burgundy, Piedmont or Tuscany: one name for many different subregions that are historically and culturally linked.
