Slovenia is a small European wine country between the Alps, the Adriatic coast and the Karst. Natural wine and small domains strongly shape the international reputation. After a change in wine law all domestic wines, including natural wine and declassified wine, must carry an official stamp.

De Sloveense wijnwet werd op 18 februari 2026 goedgekeurd, op 27 februari gepubliceerd en op 14 maart van kracht. Artikel 24 eist laboratoriumanalyse én organoleptische keuring, ook voor wijn zonder PDO of PGI. Een commissie van vijf bepaalt marktgeschiktheid. Santei in de Vipava-vallei startte een petitie, gesteund door Bon Vino en Natura Vino. Producenten vragen opnieuw markttoegang op alleen chemisch-fysische analyse, ook voor oogst 2025, en wijzen op ongelijkheid met geïmporteerde natuurwijn. Parallel werkt Natural Wine of Wales aan een Britse PGI voor natuurwijn, nog in beoordeling bij Defra.The Slovenian wine law was approved on 18 February 2026, published on 27 February and in force on 14 March. Article 24 requires laboratory analysis and organoleptic judging, also for wine without PDO or PGI. A committee of five decides market fitness.
