Griekenland hoort bij de oudste wijnculturen rond de Middellandse Zee. Grieken brachten wijnbouw naar Italië, dat zij Oinotria noemden. OPAP en OPE zijn de belangrijkste herkomstbenamingen. Inheemse rassen zijn onder meer Assyrtiko, Agiorgitiko, Moschofilero en Xinomavro.
