Frankrijk is een van de grootste wijnlanden ter wereld. Het land heeft veel bekende wijnbouwgebieden, zoals Bordeaux, Bourgogne, de Rhône, de Loire en Champagne. De herkomst staat centraal in het Franse systeem van beschermde namen, de AOC. Die naam zegt iets over de streek, de druiven en de manier van werken.
France is one of the largest wine countries in the world. It has many well-known winegrowing areas, such as Bordeaux, Bourgogne, the Rhône, the Loire and Champagne. Origin is central in the French system of protected names, the AOC. That name says something about the region, the grapes and the way of working.

In 2010 kwamen meer dan 250 producenten in een hersteld klooster in de Rhône bijeen voor het eerste International Grenache Symposium. Grenache leidt meestal de blend in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. In rosé geeft zij het rode fruit in bleekroze Provence en de Languedoc. In Roussillon is zij de basis van Banyuls en Maury.In 2010 more than 250 producers met in a restored monastery in the Rhône for the first International Grenache Symposium. Grenache usually leads the blend in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. In rosé it gives the red fruit in pale Provence and the Languedoc. In Roussillon it is the base of Banyuls and Maury.
