Egypte hoort bij de vroege wijnculturen van de Nijlvallei. Bier was de drank van het volk. Wijn was schaars en hoorde bij goden, farao en elite. Kleine wijngaarden stonden in tempel- en paleistuinen. Grafschilderingen en amfoorinscripties leggen teelt, persing en herkomst vast.
Egypt belongs to the early wine cultures of the Nile valley. Beer was the drink of the people. Wine was scarce and belonged to gods, pharaoh and elite. Small vineyards stood in temple and palace gardens. Tomb paintings and amphora inscriptions record growing, pressing and origin.
