Argentinië is een groot wijnland in Zuid-Amerika. De belangrijkste gebieden zijn Mendoza, San Juan, Salta en Patagonië. Kenmerkende druiven zijn Malbec, Torrontés en Cabernet Sauvignon. Ook Bonarda, Syrah en Chardonnay komen veel voor. Wijngaarden liggen hoog, soms boven de 1500 meter. Veel zon en koele nachten geven rijp fruit en frisse zuren. In het noorden, Noroeste, liggen Salta, La Rioja en Catamarca. Bij Cafayate in Salta staan wijngaarden tot boven de 3000 meter. Centraal ligt Cuyo, met Mendoza als grootste wijnprovincie, goed voor ongeveer 70 procent van de productie, en San Juan. Het klimaat is droog. Irrigatie komt van smeltwater uit de Andes.

Vineyards sit high, sometimes above 1,500 m, with much sunlight and cool nights, which gives ripe fruit aromas and fresh acidity. Black grapes: Malbec, Bonarda, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah. White: Torrontés, aromatic, typical of Salta, and Chardonnay. In the north-west, Noroeste covers Salta, La Rioja and Catamarca, including some of the world's highest vineyards, for example Cafayate in Salta, above 3,000 m. In the centre, Cuyo: Mendoza is the largest wine province, about 70 percent of Argentine production, and San Juan. Dry climate, irrigation from Andes meltwater.
